Abstract:

Natural modes of oscillation of a variety of strings (fixed at both ends) with differing density functions were experimentally measured. These measurements were compared with theoretical values calculated by numeric shooting method approximations. The average disagreement between experiment and theoretical data was approximately 10%. The average uncertainty in experimental data was approximately 8%.
